I started as a paper scrapper

Full CircleI was invited to my first "Croptoberfest" in October 2000 while living in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  I just so happened that the teacher's aide in my youngest son's kindergarten class was a Creative Memories Consultant.  Vanna and I had a lot in common, and we eventually became good friends.  I created my very first paper layout at that Croptoberfest, and the rest is history.

Since then, I have amassed more paper scrapping tools and supplies than I could ever use.  Sad, but true, and even digital scrappers may be able to relate to this addition.  My paper layouts are few and far between now, but I always come back to my basics when I am stumped for ideas or need a creative push.  (Not that paper is better than digital or vice versa... they are equally as challenging.)  I find that getting my hands dirty (ink, usually) fuels my creativity.   My best digital designs usually follow a newly created paper work.

I also use my scrapping tools to make cards and gifts for family.  Though they all appreciate the digital layouts that I send them through email, there is something extra special in a handmade card or gift.  This also give me another excuse to amass more supplies and tools.

The layout to the left is very special to me.  I created it in January 2007, for a layout contest at my local scrapbook store (LSS).  It is one of my most personal works.  Read the rest of the story and journaling for this layout HERE on my blog.  You'll also see a complete list of supplies that I used.

The links to the right will need to some of my favorite paper creations.  They will lead you to my galleries on other websites.  Careful that you don't spend hours clicking around... I always get "lost" looking at all the other work by scrappers were are brave enough to post.  For paper creations, I usually post at the ScrapJammies Gallery.

I can't end this post without mentioning my dear friend, Salvacion.  In April 2007, Salvacion took the plunge and became a Creative Memories Consutant.  CLICK HERE to see her website.  I am so proud of Salvacion because I know how shy she is and getting out there to share her layouts and work is a big step for her.

As for the products themselves, I highly recommend Creative Memories- especially for the beginning scrapper.  Naturally, if you need a consultant, I highly recommend Salvacion!  (Good luck, Sal!)

June 3, 2007

I am currently working on smaller albums for my boys... something more portable than the large 12x12 albums. Since they live primarily with their father, I want to make sure that they remember me and their Charleston family when they are not with us.

On the 31st of May, just before a trip to dig for clams I was able to put together a small collage of photos for Mel.  It was for an insert on his Starbucks mug.  What a great way to show off photos without dragging around an album!  Plus it is a more manly way for a guy to show off photos. The mug was just $9.99 and there are designs you can download and print for the mug.  As a scrapper, I just had to personalize it; apparently it was a big hit with the future in-laws.
